Arctic Biodiversity Symposium

The Canadian Museum of Nature presented the Arctic Biodiversity Symposium, November 18–19, 2010, in Ottawa, Canada, in celebration of the International Year of Biodiversity.

The aim of the symposium was to frame our current understanding of the fast-changing state of Arctic biodiversity. Leading scientists addressed topics under the themes of Climate Change in the Arctic, Effects of Climate Change on Traditional Uses of Biodiversity, Impact on Arctic Ecology and Technological Tools for the Future of Biodiversity Research. In addition, the Council of Canadian Academies’ report on the State and Trends of Biodiversity Science in Canada was released.
