As a member of the Canadian National Kayak Team, John Hastings expects to represent Canada at the 2012 Olympics. As he travels the world on his journey to Olympic excellence, he relies upon access to clean water to train and compete. He is increasingly concerned about the depletion and declining quality of this precious resource.

Hear his insights and learn from his experiences about setting goals, facing challenges and taking action! He will also address his connection to water and the environment, using examples of programmes associated with the RBC Blue Water Project.

About John Hastings

John Hastings is a member of the Canadian National Kayak Team and is part of the RBC Olympians Program. In 2010, John finished the season ranked first in Canada and eighth at the Overall World Cup. He was the 2008 National Champion and an alternate on the 2008 Olympic Team. John's ultimate goal is a medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Hastings was born in 1983 in Aurora, Ontario. He earned a bachelor of commerce degree from Sprott School of Business (Carleton University) in Ottawa, where he currently resides. He is a CFA Level 2 candidate and has ambitions of a career in capital markets upon culmination of his athletic career.
