"Canadians want to lead the International Community in Arctic Protection". The Canadian Museum of Nature echoes this belief. Scientific research is the first step.
The Arctic research programme at the museum is the cornerstone of the museum's research department, whose roots trace back to 1913. Ours is the only natural history museum in Canada with an established Arctic Field Program. Our researchers have the experience, the talent and the passion so necessary to conduct the important research work in the Arctic.
This research is of vital importance because the observations of warming trends and global climate change are affecting the Arctic at a faster rate than expected, inevitably impacting and shifting the delicate balance in the marine and terrestrial ecosystems.
Our researchers, in partnership with international teams, are looking at this problematic state of climate change in the Arctic from a fully integrated point of view. This is imperative to understanding the connections and how these changes will affect all of us. It has been suggested that the Arctic may be entering a state not seen before.
By supporting the Arctic Exploration Fund, your donation will go towards the work of our researchers and their incredible efforts to shed light on the changing landscape and biodiversity of the Arctic.
