Arctic Lupine, Lupinus arcticus

In the Museum

The Canadian Museum of Nature has more than 240 specimens of Arctic lupine (Lupinus arcticus) in its collection.

Dr. Dick Harington is a now researcher emeritus at the Canadian Museum of Nature. He did Arctic fieldwork over more than 40 years. Harington is primarily interested in ice-age mammals of Canada, particularly of Yukon, and in Pliocene vertebrates of Ellesmere Island, Nunavut.

The lupine experiment was not his only foray into botany. He has collected specimens for Nature's herbarium and has occasionally co-authored papers dealing with fossil plants. He co-authored the 2009 paper that determined the true age of the Arctic lupineseeds found near Miller Creek.
