Velvet-leaf blueberry, Vaccinium myrtilloides S#NC67-5.    Velvet-leaf Blueberry
Vaccinium myrtilloides

Occurring in Canada from Labrador to British Columbia, the velvet-leaf blueberry obtains its common name from the texture of its leaves. It grows low to the ground and produces fruit in clusters, not singly. As they mature, the berries change colour from greenish white to pale pink to blue when fully ripe. The term 'blueberry' refers to the edible fruit of dozens of species in North America and Europe. Eighteen species in the genus Vaccinium are found in Canada, and they are related to bilberries, huckleberries and cranberries.
