Arctic fox, Vulpes lagopus S95-04500.    Arctic Fox
Vulpes lagopus

The Arctic fox is found throughout the Arctic. This Arctic Fox is white in winter and grayish-brown in summer. These foxes are about 3 to 8 kg, 50 to 60 cm long, and have tails about half again as long. The Arctic fox hunts its prey, but it also eats carrion and plants. Because they depend on sudden take-offs to snag their dinner or fast getaways to avoid being eaten, animals stretch more than we do.
