In a lively and entertaining presentation illustrated with slides and stories, James Raffan will talk of land, experience and language. A writer and geographer, he has spent part of every year since 1977 living and traveling throughout the North. Dr. Raffan is the author/editor of a dozen bestselling books including, Summer North of Sixty, Fire in the Bones, Tumblehome, Deep Waters, Rendezvous with the Wild and Emperor of the North. A past Chair of the Arctic Institute of North America, he proposes a unique northern contribution to a “curriculum of change”—a challenge to Northern youth—to help fix the disconnect between humans and nature that is fuelling the current climate crisis.
